BAROQUE INVASION!!!

So now we move on to Baroque period. The great painters came out of their comfort zones and started painting with new style. One characteristic of the Baroque period that really impress me is the presence of time and motion. You can see in the painting the real movement of the subject of the painting. It is not boring to look at. The motion is clearly emphasized in those paintings. Extreme realistic painting also came out.

But this era of art does not affect much of my style in painting because iam not into realistic painting, though I really want to learn how to make one! This era might affected the present time because their paintings contain many symbolism. So the scholars try to uncover the mystery under the painting of this era, The Baroque Era.

CHRISTIAN ART

Religion. I think that is the main subject matter of every art made in the era of the Christian art.

In this era, being a Christian is like joining a cult that’s why they are persecuted and punished. The people hunted them. That’s why in the early days of the era of Christian art, some architecture are located to places that some people can’t see. And the catacombs are made. The Christian used the catacombs as their church and, at the same time, their hiding place. Then years after, new emperors that are pro Christians emerge and proclaim not to persecute and punish Christians. They now create sculptures and paintings that tell stories about the life of Jesus. Most of the artworks made in this era are all about the Annunciation.

This era doesn’t affect most of my artworks because most of my artworks are not religious (ex. Aliens, Zombies, etc). Though I am a religious guy.

Art!

There are many types of art, but if I am to choose one, I will choose the art of alteration.I am a big fan of the altered art, specially cartoons. Though the cartoon appeared many years after the first art of alteration is made. Altered arts are first made by painters that, in my point of view, are results of lack of preparations of the painter for the art he will do. Because if you compare them to the paintings of the other famous painters, you will see that the ratio of some body parts art either elongated or shortened. And compared to the realistic art of other painters, the ratio, the shadings, etc. they are near to perfection.

But anyway, I like the art of alteration. Actually, our generation today really prefer the altered art because they are attracted to cute things. That's why they are always amazed to see realistic drawing/paintings.

Suprise Art!

I, as a Bachelor of Arts in MultiMedia Arts student, should be flexible and creative enough to make impromptu arts, or on-the-spot art. But I REALLY CAN'T! I am used to doing well planned art because it has less error. But whenever I do impromptu arts, I ALWAYS panic, and worst I cant think of any thing(mental block). I don't really like these kind of art because I dont want ugly arts, be cause I tend to make my art uglier when I am in a hurry. Plus, there is a TIME LIMIT! So I am now PRESSURED, which is very dangerous for us MMA students.

But there's nothi8ng I can do but to follow. So I practiced impromptu art at home by drawing and coloring an art for only a limited time, so that I wont be pressured again when the real impromptu art kicks in. But still, I cant fully do a good impromptu art. I still need more practice!

Greek Art

Our last meeting in our subject History of Arts and Design is all about the eras of Arts. Many types of arts are discussed. But for me, Greek art is the most influential era of arts and design. This is because many of the existing art made by other civilization is patterned in the art of the Greeks. Maybe this is because of the near perfection(in that time) of their masterpiece.

The masterpieces of the Greeks are mostly focused on the gods and goddesses and respected people. This is because the painters and sculptors are paid with large amount of money. So only the rich Greeks can afford to buy paintings and sculptures of the artists.

Fact: I am a fan of Greek mythology. I know most of their gods and goddesses. And I am also a fan of their vase paintings.

Creativity Talk

OK! So, creativity. Well, a lot of people have related creativity as being smart, bright, intelligent, genius, etc.I consider myself creative, but I am smart, bright, intelligent, or genius. So what is creativity? For me, creativity is thinking beyond normal.Creative people don't have difficulty in waiting because they can entertain themselves in their minds. They create their own world in their head. No, they are not crazy! Here are some tips on how to attain such creativity:

1. LEARN: Watch/Read a lot of things! Through this, you can get some things you will add to your head. Here, you will learn and at the same time expand your world in head.
2. EXPAND: Do not contain your mind! Let it ask you! Let curiosity fill your head! BUT, don't let it control you!
3. EXPLORE: Experiment on the curiosity that filled your head! Try to answer the questions that filled your head.
4. EXPRESS: Lastly, find a way to express your creativity. Your creativity has also a capacity. Well if you fill your world with too much things and questions, you might find yourself CRAZY!

Remember, creativity is not a gift but a lesson to be learned. Learn, Expand, Explore, Express!!!

What to do during Heavy Rains?

Lonely Bulbasaur in heavy rain

This blog entry is a bit not in time because the typhoon just left the country. So I think that I will just share to you the things that I do during heavy rains...

We all know that we have a long, rainy, cold weekend. No classes at Saturday to Wednesday. That sounds boring.Well it is! No internet, no cable, what else will you take away from me?! My life?! LOL, just kidding. But what will you do in that king of situation? No internet, no cable, and can't go outside.I did a lot of stupid things that for me is a serious thing to do! For example, I did some food experimentation, like beated egg with Milo.Well it taste so good. Another stupid yet serious thing that I do is rice with Royal, which is a soft drinks. Taste good as well, but I won't do those again (unless I am in that situation again).

One good thing the heavy rain brought to me is that I have the time to read my Philippine History book. Maybe that's the best thing heavy rains brought me. I have the whole day to do nothing but food experimentation, but still the boredom made me open my book. Though it's also boring, just kidding.

Have a nice rainy day!
